Synopsis
Captain Maxwell of the Phoenix, who lost his family in a Cardassian raid, destroys Cardassian ships, claiming they are rearming. Picard, with Gul Macet aboard, tracks him down and, with O'Brien's help, persuades him to surrender, preserving the peace and warning Macet that the Federation is watching.
Continuity
- Leads to Chain of Command, part 1 (S06E10): Related rather than explicit: both are set on the Federation-Cardassian border after the peace treaty.
Log entries

Captain's log, stardate 44431.7. We have established communication with Captain Maxwell, and he has agreed to come on board.
Captain's log, supplemental. With the Phoenix in close formation, we are proceeding directly to Starbase two one one.
Captain's log, supplemental. Captain Maxwell has turned his ship over to his First Officer and transported aboard the Enterprise. I have confined him to quarters for the return voyage.
