Synopsis
Data hijacks the Enterprise, answering a homing signal from his creator Dr Soong, who is dying and wants to give him an emotion chip. Lore, also summoned, impersonates Data, takes the chip and escapes, leaving Soong alive.
Continuity
- Follows Datalore (S01E13): Lore, sent into space at the end of Datalore, drifts for nearly two years before their creator Soong reactivates him.
- Leads to Descent, part 2 (S07E01): Lore uses the emotion chip he took in Brothers to control Data.
- Referenced by Descent, part 1 (S06E26): Lore, last seen in Brothers, reappears in Descent and stands with Data: 'The sons of Soong have joined together.'
- Referenced by Inheritance (S07E10): Data and La Forge recall the emotion chip from Brothers when Juliana, who says she was Soong's wife, appears.
