Preemptive Strike

Starfleet sends Lieutenant Ro undercover into the Maquis, and Picard has her lure them into a trap at the Hugora Nebula. After Macias is killed in a Cardassian attack, Ro warns the Maquis, abandons Starfleet and leaves with them, apologising to Picard.

• Follows Ensign Ro (S05E03): Ro, brought aboard in Ensign Ro, goes undercover in the Maquis and leaves Starfleet to join them.
• Follows Journey's End (S07E20): Related rather than explicit: both turn on the border treaty that leaves Federation colonists in Cardassian territory.

Captain's log, stardate 47941.7. The Enterprise is en route to a briefing on the situation in the Demilitarised Zone along the Cardassian border. Meanwhile, we're celebrating the return of an old friend.
